I've been busy :)

Have made a few cakes last week :)
First up is a cute giant cupcake made for Savannah's first birthday.

Then I carved up a cool looking garfield cake :)

I also made some chocolate mudcupcakes with chocolate icing, caramel sauce and hokey pokey pieces for my friends at our monthly cocktail night :)

And then I made a red ninjago cake :) I carved the body because the cake mould was too small. After looking at this photo, I can definitely see where I need to improve next time. But I'm thinking not too bad for a first go!

I currently have a chocolate cake in the oven for my mums birthday tonight. I'm all caked out. Over it! So I'm leaving it until the last minute. Dinner is at 7, so I'll have 3 hours for it to cool and ice it. Oops. Ah well, who can complain about a free cake?!

Happy 23rd birthday to me!

Hi everyone :)

Hope you enjoyed the Christmas and New Year break. I've been spending my summer by hanging out in the kitchen and having the occasional swim in the pool. Eva doesn't like the pool very much. She doesn't appreciate the cold water like I do yet haha.
On the 5th I made a cake for my birthday party (Sad that I had to do it myself, I know! It's unfortunate that nobody else in the family are great bakers. And I'm too much of a tight-ass to spend hundreds on a cake that I could do myself!)
Anyway, this is my creation.

Bottom cake is a delicious carrot cake and the top is vanilla. Both with lemon buttercream. I chose fresh flowers for decoration as I wanted to avoid using fondant. Extra work to add on my 'to-do' list otherwise. The lovely florest at Florist Ilene in Frankton did a great job putting the vibrant coloured flowers together for me She had strict instructions... I didn't want my birthday cake looking like a wedding cake.
